Ease Life™

Women

The project explores psychological factors influencing eating habits and offers personalized fitness plans to boost commitment, achieve goals, and enhance user satisfaction.

"I track my calories for 3 days, feel terrible about myself, and quit."

The Problem

Health apps treat food like math. EaseLife was briefed to treat it like emotion — designing a wellness companion that reduces guilt, not just calories.

The Gap

MyFitnessPal, HealthifyMe, and Cult.fit all log behavior. None of them address why users abandon the habit within a week — emotional friction.

Timeline

Self-directed | 3 week sprint

What we prioritised (and what we didn't)

Social sharing features

Gamified streaks

— Recurring sentiment from 6 of 8 user interviews

Design goal — make a user feel understood within the first 60 seconds of opening the app, before they log any event not feel confused of what the event is about and being able to make full use out of it

Persona Mapping

Empathy Mapping

Think and Feel

1) "My body makes me feel bad about myself"

2) Anxious about academics and appearance simultaneously

3) Wants to change but doesn't know where to start

4) Guilty after emotional eating episodes

5) Fears being judged — by peers, by the mirror

Sees

1) Peers eating fast food — McDonald's, Domino's — without guilt

2) Fitness content on social media that feels unreachable

3) Hostel canteen with limited healthy options

4) Friends with "better" bodies and less stress about it

5) Wellness apps that look built for already-fit people

Says

1) "I want to eat healthy but I have no time to cook"

2) "I'll start next week" — repeatedly

3) "I don't know what's actually healthy"

4) "Gym is expensive and far"

5) "I eat badly when I'm stressed about exams"

Does

1) Orders from Domino's and McDonald's under peer pressure

2) Skips meals when stressed, then overeats

3) Downloads fitness apps, uses them 3 days, stops

4) Uses smaller plates occasionally but inconsistently

4) Searches "how to lose weight fast" late at night

Pain

1) No nutrition education — doesn't know what's good or bad

2) Limited budget makes healthy food feel out of reach

3) Stress triggers emotional eating, guilt follows immediately

4) Peer influence overrides personal intentions

5) Body image anxiety compounds academic pressure

Gain

1) Feels good when he eats mindfully — wants more of that

2) Self-aware and hard working—motivation exists, direction doesn't

3) Responds well to growth-framing over fear-framing

4) Would commit to a simple, budget-friendly routine

5) Wants to feel in control — of body and schedule both

Core Insight

Arjit doesn't lack motivation — he lacks a system that fits his actual life. Budget constraints, peer pressure, and stress eating aren't excuses. They're design constraints EaseLife must solve for.
